  • Production Line

    Polyurethane Elastomer Production Line Process Flow

    1. Raw Material Preparation & Storage

    • Polyols & Isocyanates: Dedicated, temperature-controlled storage tanks (e.g., for MDI, TDI, Polyether Polyols) ensure raw material stability.
    • Additives: Precision scales are used for weighing chain extenders (e.g., BDO), catalysts, flame retardants, and other additives.

    2. Pre-polymer Synthesis (Reactor System)

    • Charging: The polyol and additives are charged into a jacketed reactor under a dry nitrogen atmosphere.
    • Heating & Mixing: The mixture is heated to a set temperature (e.g., 60-80°C) with constant stirring.
    • Reaction: The isocyanate is added gradually. The reaction proceeds for several hours to form the prepolymer.

    3. Metering, Mixing & Casting (Dispensing Unit)

    • Feeding: The prepolymer (Side A) and chain extender (Side B) streams are fed into a high-pressure dispensing machine.
    • Precision Metering: Gear pumps ensure a precise ratio (e.g., 1:1 by volume) with an accuracy of ±0.5%.
    • High-Shear Mixing: The components are mixed intensively in a dynamic or static mixer head.
    • Casting/Molding: The mixed liquid is poured into open molds or injected into closed molds on a conveyor line.

    4. Curing & Demolding

    • Primary Curing: The filled molds enter a multi-zone curing oven. The temperature is gradually increased (e.g., from 80°C to 120°C) over a defined cycle time (e.g., 60-120 minutes).
    • Demolding: After curing, the solid elastomer parts are automatically or manually demolded.

    5. Post-Curing (Optional)

    • For enhanced properties, parts are transferred to a separate post-curing oven for an extended period (e.g., 4-12 hours at 100-130°C) to complete the reaction.

    6. Finishing & Quality Control (QC)

    • Deflashing: Excess material (flash) is removed manually or using trimming machines.
    • QC Testing: Samples undergo testing for hardness (Shore A/D), tensile strength, elongation, and tear resistance.
    • Packaging: Approved products are packaged according to customer requirements.
